June 2009

With potential for a great sunset I made the short trip to the Cloch Lighthouse on the 2nd, however the colour never really developed as more grey clouds rolled in. During the month I also took a series of photographs in the Dams to Darnley Country Park during lunch breaks and after work.

The 3rd was the first night of my local camera club summer syllabus, with a visit the Glasgow Botanical Gardens before heading to the Glasgow Science Centre for sunset.

The 4th saw me learning how to do portraiture photography under the tuition of Andy Stark. A couple of my mates from my bar job had asked me to arrange a photo shot for some Ross who used to work with us. It was a great night with lots of fun and laughter.

On the 9th I head to Glen Moss a nature reserve just down the road from where I live, it was a very bright day with lots of four spotted chasers dragonflies in flight; the visit was more of a relaxing walk with very few photos taken. After here I made the short drive to the River Greenwater near Duchal Castle to photograph the waterfalls.

The second of my local camera clubs summer syllabus trips was on the 10th June when we headed to Inverkip and Cloch Lighthouse. The weather was great with some nice clouds and strong side light and the sunset was stunning over the Cloch Lighthouse

The 17th saw the third camera club trip of the month with a visit to Victoria Park in Glasgow the night started out looking very moody, during the evening we had several heavy showers before heading down the road to Bowling for a sunset but it had started to rain. I spent a large part of the night on the roundabout photographing motion blur shots.

The final camera club outing of the month was the 24th and was the best so far with a trip to the Falkirk Wheel; the light was superb and night sunset. It was my first visit to this impressive structure and there is so much photograph here from the canal boats to the wheel itself.

On the 25th after an evening event at work I headed to Whitelee wind farm for the sunset, unfortunately I could not get the shot I wanted as the wind was blowing the wrong way and did not have time to walk miles over the moor to get the angle.
