July 2008

The long summer nights allowed visit slightly further away with two visits to Milarochy Bay, Loch Lomond, Troon Beach, Dalry windfarm and Ardossan beach. I attended the Glasgow River Festival which proved an excellent photographic opportunity.

On the 8th and 9th I made evening visit to Millarochy Bay, Loch Lomond, one was pre-visit to check out the location before visiting with my local camera club a day later. On the 8th the sky was very moody with lots of cloud, fringed with orange at the sunset began to set. The sky on the 9th was rather grey but a short but vivid sunset appeared between the grey clouds.

I had to drive to Kilmarnock on the 15th to collect a parcel, so I headed to the coast at Troon, hoping to take a few seascape shots, however it was very grey a windy. The northern bay was full of Kite Surfers and wind surfers.

On the 17th I received the neutral density filters I had ordered, so I headed to the wind farm at Dalry with the aim of taking some slow shutter speed shots of the turbines, before heading to Ardossan hoping for sunset which did not happen!

The 19th and 20th saw visit to the annual Glasgow River Festival, there I had planned to attend only on the Saturday, however they was so much to see and photograph that I spent both days there and took hundreds of images. I spent most of time watching the Jet Ski Racing and Freestyle Activities which were outstanding.

Pollok Park was the venue for my local camera visit on the 23rd July. I spent much of my time photographing the weir which had lovely light for a short time.

The 27th and 28th saw evening session to photograph the sunsets on the 27th I visited Cloch Lighthouse and on the 28th photographed the sunset over River Clyde above Langbank.

The final camera club meeting of the summer was to Largs, the weather was rather grey and disappointingly there were very few sailing boats on the river.
