June 2008

The 4th if June was the first of my local camera clubs summer trips; we visit Helenbourgh, but it was very cold and dull, after a short time we headed to canal at Bowling, where there was lots to photograph.

On the 8th I spent the afternoon at the River Green Water at Duchal, nr Kilmacolm to photograph the waterfalls. Duchal looked wonderful with lots of wildflowers out, it was a really bright day, so spent most of my time photographing the flowers and landscapes. In the evening I headed down to Adrossan hoping for a ‘killer sunset’ over Arran, but it never happened.

Glasgow oldest cemetery was the venue for the second of my local camera summer trips on the 11th. A grey a moody sky produced some interesting light along with a few showers.

On the 15th I made a short afternoon visit to Rouken Glen Park in East Renfrewshire to photograph the waterfalls, rather hot and sunny the park was very busy and has great potential for photography. During the visit I saw dipper, grey wagtail, robin, black-headed gull, mallard, moorhen, wren, blue tit, great tit and mute swan.

A Risso’s dolphin had been seen in the River Clyde at the SECC on the 23rd so i made a unsuccessful visit to see it, before heading to the Dams to Darnley Country Park hoping for a good sunset. The sky looked great and the sunset did not disappoint, I took full advantage of the low light levels to take some waterfalls shots as well. Wildlife seen included fox, pipistrelle bat, grey heron, common sandpiper, great crested grebe, swift, swallow, grasshopper warbler, sedge warbler, whitethroat, tufted duck, mute swan and buzzard.
