April 2008

During April I participate in my camera club mini-photo marathon, visited the Ayrshire coast and made two visits to Knapp’s Loch before heading to Hull to visit my folks. This provided me with an opportunity to visit photograph Hull, the Humber Bridge and North Yorkshire Moors.

On 9th my local camera club was holding a mini photomarothan with 5 topics to find and photograph with the evening. A great night was had by all. The group i was in set off towards Paisley and once again I headed towards the Anchor Mill, the water levels where low for once which produced some great shots.

It was a nice and sunny day on the 13th so I headed down the Ayrshire coast stopping at famous Turnberry, it was my first ever visit to this area of the coast which has breathtaking views of Isle of Arran, Ailsa Craig and the Irish Sea. The lighthouse at Turnberry was the main focus of my photography, I walked along the beach and cliff where I got stunning views of the impressive hotel complex and golf course, I also saw my first swallow of the year. On the way back I stopped at Crossraguel Abbey, for a short visit to this impressive ruin.

The 20th saw yet another visit to the Knapps Loch in Kilmacolm to photograph the sunset, it was a windy evening which produced some great clouds and interesting sunset.

On the 24th I made my first visit to the Dams to Darnley Country Park, I through the park and photographed the waterfall in Waulkmill Glen.

Towards the end of the month I spent a few days in Yorkshire visiting my folks, on the 28th the evening looked great with a moody dark sky so I headed towards the Marina Area of Hull before heading photograph the Humber Bridge

The 29th saw a family visit to the North Yorkshire Moors stopping off at Thornton-le-dale to photograph the famous thatched cottage, a classic chocolate box image, before heading over the moors to Grosmont where I photographed the steam trains including the Sir Nigel Gresley.
