I spent 3 days in Death Valley National Park, one of the most spectacular places I have visited, and luckily for me it was un-seasonally cold with a high of only 109!

I left Monterey area mid-morning and headed to Yosemite National Park for the next stage of my road trip. I was to spend 3 days exploring this wonderful national park.

Monterey on the California coast was the first main stop on my road trip. The main purpose of this part of the trip was wildlife rather than photography and included 2 seabird pelagic trips and a whale watching trip.

Early January was rather wet with little time for photography, and just as the weather improved I came down with flu but trip to Yorkshire at the end of the month was the perfect tonic.
